During the week I was centered in Lovina, I took a number of one day rides, hopping on the motorbike and pointing it up one road or another that wound up the mountains behind Lovina, wandering around up in the clouds, and then coming down another road. All roads lead more or less to the top, where there are a couple of gorgeous lakes; and all roads from there lead down to the sea, eventually. So it is pretty hard to really get lost. Wander around for a week or so, maybe, but never really get lost.

I saw a thousand variations on a Scarecrow. This one is a hand operated mechanical deal. Pull on the string at one side of the field, and a pole with flags on the other waves around.
Not surprisingly, the fields were blessed, just like everything else important to life on Bali.

Every cluster of rice fields seemed to have little sheds in it. I never figured out what they were for, and forgot to ask. Perhaps just tool storage, or shelter from the frequent torrential rains.
Every once in a while I would come upon a humongous tree. They reminded me of the rain forest trees in Central America, with huge buttresses at their base.

After a week in Lovina, I packed up and wandered up and over to central Bali. This is an area dominated by large, old, volcanic craters now containing gorgeous lakes. But first, along the way, was more beautiful scenery.
