After the swans were released, the kids attended an outdoor education program where they learned about aquatic plants, invasive plants and how to help prevent their introduction into Montana, and our native wildlife. The program was put together by Elaine Caton with local community members assisting the presentions to the kids.

Karen Laitala from Powell County gave a great talk on aquatic pests and how to help prevent them from being introduced in Montana. It was useful for parents as well as kids.

There was a great demonstration for how Eurasian Millfoil and other pests gets spread from one body of water to another by unsuspecting users. The kids seemed to focus on catching the turtle, but maybe they'll remember the part about washing your boat, boots, and fishing gear... And hopefully then drying it before putting it in another body of water.
