Ovando July 4 Parade

Ovando had its annual Fourth of July parade. A genuine small town affair, where anyone who wants to gets to be in the parade. The town museum is open and worth seeing. The shops are open, and some of the local craftspeople show up. Come enjoy the food, have a good time, enjoy some small town rural America ambiance, and get your holiday / birthday / anniversary shopping done!

Scapegoat Ride and Hike with Ram and Uri

Dona's family all got together in Missoula in late July. We managed to get away for three days to the back country on a ride and hike trip with Ram and Uri and their girlfriends.

Sambo's first pack trip

We finally got away for a short pack trip by ourselves. It was Sambo's first over-nighter, and he did pretty well.

Gary on Poppie with water measuring stuff

I measure stream flow for the Montana chapter of Trout Unlimited's participation in TU's Western Water Project. Rather than drive all around to get to the places I need to measure, I try to ride my horse.

Along the Beartooth Highway

We drove down to Colorado to visit mom, and for Dona to attend a comparative biology conference. Her friend Frapps was there from Tazmania with one of his students, and the three of them took a hike in Rocky Mountain Park. We took a scenic route on the way down, over the beartooth highway.

Pack Trip along Corrugate Ridge and Birch Creek Country

With summer running out and back country hunting season soon to open, we only had a small window left for another pack trip. In spite of unstable weather, we headed out and had a fun trip in totally new country along Birch Creek on the Rocky Mountain Front west of Choteau.
