As Carson informed us, when studying native North Americans, the students learned about games the native people engaged in which helped them learn skills needed for hunting and survival. You obviously had to be pretty agile and limber. The object was often to kick a ball suspended in the air while starting from some awkward position, like sitting down.
They also practiced carrying each other; maybe that was to prepare for hauling large game animals.
